[Manifold-l] unexpected grey components

Some time ago there was some discussion about Manifold projects suddenly not
displaying the contents of components upon re-opening the file. Can anyone
remember why this was the case, what the work around is and whether it was
agreed as a bug or not (it presumably is)? Is there anything that might
trigger this sort of behaviour? I'm aware of all the issues surrounding
graphics cards etc but if your MAP file works one day then it would be good
if it also worked the next...

It's just happened here, lots of nice maps one day, plain grey empty
backgrounds the next.
