[Manifold-l] distance problems converting to KML files

I'm having a problem. If I project a drawing to mercador in miles and
select objects contained in a 35 mile radius and then export the results to
a KML file the distance across the area selected measured in Google Earth is
not the same as measured in Manifold. I have confirmed in Manifold the
radius is 35 miles or 70 miles in diameter yet when I measure the diameter
in Google it is only 47 miles. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug.
The particular drawing I do this with is a US Census block drawing
projected first in lat long then changed to Mercador (miles). This has
happened to me on numerous occasions and I also get bad buffer size
measurements using the same drawings. These same drawings also give me
problems doing image merges from various sources. I suspect I am doing
something wrong with the projections but am not sure. This is confusing as
everything measures properly in Manifold.
Thank You,
Brian
