I apologize for not replying earlier, thanks for your help.
I'm enjoying Manifold a great deal, it's a bit of a leap from AV and
MapInfo, but its quite impressive.

Without a *.map file, the MapInfo file is a table. Manifold does not
support importing MapInfo tables.
One way to get around this perhaps is to make the table mappable in MapInfo
(so it creates the *.map file). Then import it as a drawing in Manifold.
Because there aren't any actual drawing objects, it will basically be an
empty drawing with a table behind it filled with the data. You could then
copy and paste this table to get rid of the empty drawing.

I don't know, but can you provide an example set of files - or a means to
produce one? How are the files created?
