[Manifold-l] Manifold Toolbar - download it now

Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce the Manifold Toolbar - it's a very useful toolbar
for IE that we are releasing to the Manifold online community today in an
open beta.

See http://www.manifold.net/toolbar/

The beta has a few limitations:

- doesn't goto lat/lon (will be added very soon)
- has an extra control box to reserve space that is not currently used.
- we'll add (sooner or later) the ability to specify server URLs for those
image server modules that support them.
- lots of other capabilities will be added in future releases. For example,
right now it requires wheel mouse for zoom in/out but obviously it would be
nice to have a zoom box, +/- keyboard keys, etc. But it was just too much
fun not to release right now.
- Just for IE for now. When it comes out as completely open source (planned)
I expect Firefox and other browsers will be supported as well.

The toolbar is free. Tell your friends and download away, pass it around,
etc. We expect that in addition to being useful, it will prove to be a
modest way of advancing awareness of Manifold, a bit of non-traditional
advertising. We anticipate it will encourage development of third party
image server modules (which can be used either in the toolbar or in
Manifold) for all sorts of image servers (the NASA Mars server, anyone?) for
which there might not be sufficient interest in just Manifold.

Enjoy!

Dimitri
