Do you mean you upgraded your portable to 7x?

Do you mean re-install 6.50 on the desktop?  If so and if you used that same
6.50 serial number to upgrade to 7x you will have two problems:

1. The moment you traded in your 6.50 serial number for a 7x serial number
you revoked that 6.50 serial number.  It can no longer be used to fetch
activation keys, so you cannot use it to activate any 6.50 installations
anymore.

2. If you continued to run 6.50 on your desktop while running a derivative
7x license on the portable you are taking the risk of cancelling your 7x
license as well should the two ever run at the same time.  Once you trade in
that 6.50 serial number that license is dead and should no longer be used
(this is discussed in the FAQ).  Run it at the same time as the 7x number
and you risk auto-revocation.
