[Manifold-l] HELP ON PLAN OF ATTACK

I have to present a survey I undertook of sewer/ stormwater lines to a
client in GIS format.
I have ASCII files of all the points (NEZ,Codes), AutoCAD drawings of all
points, lines and symbols (manholes/ gully pits etc).
I am not sure the best approach to utilise my data. They want manholes
(point data) to contain elevations of the lid and inverts, pipes (linework)
to have inverts at both ends and grade as well as upstream/ downstream
manhole numbers.
I'm not asking for a blow by blow, but just a few pointers as to how to
automate some of the processes - I expect scripts would work - but my
knowledge of such is those you take to the chemist to supposedly help you
get better. That said I'm willing to learn.
This is an interesting challenge and has highlighted the inadequacies of
survey software (mine anyway) and the gulf between such and GIS.
As a side note I am putting all my survey data into Manifold now and
building up a rather extensive data base - one thing GIS does a lot better
than survey software - its very good.
