[Manifold-l] SELECTIONS IN MAPS

How does one prevent Manifold 6.5 from selecting shapes when I want to
select points in a Map.  I have a large Cadaster background with the points
and lines on separate layers.  If I deselect 'Select lines and Areas' the
Areas still select before the point which is annoying.  I don't want to turn
off the Cadaster layer as it helps me know where I am on the Map.  It would
be good to be able to Freeze layers as in CAD.
I had this problem in Layouts too - posted previously.
