Me too, is there anyway a similar service can be set up for the forum?

I get an instant overview as to the issues and replies are so much easier
than logging on which seems to throw a wobbly every now and then.

Most posts seem to be there now anyway, so I am missing out on a lot of the
threads unless I really go out of my way to visit the site, and I am not
sure how to get a good overview of all the posts.

I am prepared to change, but this has been a very useful tool over the
years...I am not sure if the forum is progress over the subscription but if
that is the way everyone has gone then that's it I guess,

I think we all really need to consider an alternative to Manifold-L as
hosted by directionsmag.  I just want to point out that the message below
which was just delivered on the 17th of December was sent (as can be seen
below) on 25 November (!).

As a practical matter the greatest volume of conversation has moved to the
Georeference forum at http://forum.manifold.net so perhaps it is best to
simply move conversations there.  I personally really like the "push" of an
email list, but I've accomodated myself to the forum format anyway. :-)
