[Geomedia-l] RE: Coincidence

One other aspect of this spatial query is that I manage the drainage
areas in my local Oracle server but the Buildings feature is managed in
a separate, disparate Oracle server...Native Query seems to only work
within one active Oracle connection.

Subject: Coincidence

List:

I want to run a spatial query to determine which Buildings lie
coincidentally in two or more drainage areas. Buildings are area
features as are the drainage areas. I want output the list to a Data
Window, so I can copy/paste into Excel. To the best of my knowledge, I
have not been able to run this query using any of the spatial query
operators--unless I am not totally understanding how each operator
works. There isn't a "Coincidence" operator.

A simple example of what I am after...Building 23 overlaps drainage
areas 4, 6, and 8. I need a list of all of the buildings that
coincidentally lie (overlap) two or more drainage areas.

I am running GM Pro 6 with an Oracle database storing my features. Is
there a simple solution to my query?

Thanks,

Alex,

A support worksheet always gives the Intergraph support person more time
to pursue a problem. Please open a call if you need support.

I have written up some information on this problem, but I don't feel the
public forum is necessarily the best place for me to discuss the
differences between our product and the competition.

Mr. Hobbs and Mr. Haffly both have made cogent comments. I will add
this...

1. The appearance of "TIFFOpen: C:\Temp\TEST_GT_FINAL.tif: Cannot
open. failure in listgeo", with the absence of GeoTIFF tags in the
'Display Header' output indicates that the file is open or cached in
GMPro. GMPro locks the file (this is a minor bug we're hoping to fix in
GMPro v6.1), causing the 'failure in listgeo'. If you exit GMPro and
look at the file again, you will see the complete set of GeoTIFF tags.

2. The 'unknown tag' messages are not an issue. They are not
GeoTIFF tags, but are (proprietary?) TIFF tags. TIFF spec says
applications must ignore such tags if they are not understood.

3. The mere presence of GeoTIFF tags in an image does not indicate
the file is a valid GeoTIFF file. Some applications write selected
GeoTIFF tags into their output files and are able to place those images
correctly. But those applications may not handle valid GeoTIFF files
from other sources, and their output images would not be seen as valid
GeoTIFF by other applications. GeoMedia is not guilty of this error.

Thanks,

        Joe

Hi, Joe!

In other post I wrote that main problem is:

I can't open GeoTIFF prepared in I/RAS C v7.2 and/or GMP v6.0

 in ArcGIS v9.0.

Steve Frost wrote that this problem was solved in ArcGIS v9.2.

But I haven't v9.2.

You ask about header of my files. OK, in attachment you can find

GeoTIFFs and headers (from Display Header and listgeo).

I make two variants of sample raster (via GM and I/RAS C) that is

georeferenced in geographic coordinate system (Lon, Lat).

[See GeoTIFF metadata dumps in attachment.]

They looks some different, but every raster is well open

 in GeoMedia and I/RAS C.

However, if I try to open this rasters in ArcGIS then I receive

message box: "One or more layers is missing spatial reference

information. Data from those layers cannot be projected."

Nevertheless, after I press OK both rasters displays well in

 geographic CS (Lon/Lat).

But I can't display it in any other CS, except GCS.

Third variant is IRASC GeoTIFF with corrected georefer. by ArcCatalog +

aux file.

Hey, ALL! Can anybody try to open this GeoTIFFs in ArcGIS v9.2?

Your responses will be very appreciated! Thanks in advance!

R.,

Hello Alex,

Can you give me an idea what errors you have experienced? Our GeoTIFF

meets all standards for both TIFF and GeoTIFF, so I'm not sure what we

can do.

Send me a header of a file from ESRI which GeoMedia can't read, and a

header from one of our files that they can't read, and I'll try to

identify the problem.

It would be good if you could open a support request at the Intergraph

website as well.

Thanks,

  Joe

Hi, list!

What is the best way to preparing GeoTIFF in INGR environment (GM, I/RAS

C, ISRU...) for using it in ESRI's ArcGIS?

How to transmit a georeference?

Can I have a SINGLE (!) GeoTIFF file which can be correctly opened in

both lines - INGR and ESRI?

Thx in adv!
