[Geomedia-l] Access DB sharing

We have a geomedia access database that contains our collection system
information.  Our IT department developed a non-geomedia application
which connects to our database.  However, the application and geomedia
seem to be fighting over this connection.  Whoever is connected first
wins access to the db, and if you try to connect after that first
connection has been established you are out of luck.  We can resolve
this by using a read-only connection in GM but we would like to
eliminate this problem by modifying the programming of the non-geomedia
application.  The application doesn't need to have edit access to our
database so I am hoping there is a way to connect read only from within
the application.

 

Can anyone offer a solution?
