Dr. Kim Rossmo on Geographic Profiling
Listen to a conversation on BlogTalkRadio with Dr. Kim Rossmo, from the Texas State University Center for Geospatial Intelligence and Investigation, and Deborah Osborne, in which they discuss geographic profiling, investigative failures, and crime and intelligence analysis. Geographic profiling has been utilized in many serial killer investigations but also has applications in analysis of serial arsons, burglaries and sex crimes.
GeoWeb 2009, taking place July 27-31, 2009, in downtown Vancouver, B.C., will focus exclusively on geographic information systems, the Internet, and the economic potential associated with their convergence. |

Location Intelligence Call for Papers Deadline Approaching!
The theme of this year's event (Oct. 5-7, Westminster, CO) is "Where Location Technology Meets the Enterprise," and highlights the technologies that are finding their way into mainstream enterprise information technology applications. We are seeking project managers, end-users, software programmers and technologists, as well as CIOs and CTOs to demonstrate how their information infrastructure has integrated geospatial technology into their organizations. The Call for Papers closes July 31.

With a total of 493 people responding to the most recent poll, as many are unemployed and actively looking for work as are happily employed and not looking at all. Those results could be viewed as somewhat alarming as the geospatial industry tends to be at least slightly recession-proof.
