The following comments were provided by survey respondents to our 2008 Reader Survey (taken November and December):
- I have found your publication invaluable in forming a business case study for the implementation of standards in government. It has also been extremely helpful background information for me being so new to the spatial profession.
- You do a great job, I find new information I didn't know even existed. Keep it up; we count on you.
- Your publications, blogs, and other communications are all top notch. Keep up the good work
- I absolutely love your podcasts! The editorial take on industry news, trends and events is invaluable to me. While information is available from numerous outlets these days, the professional analysis and opinion of your editors in the podcasts is fantastic. Please keep the podcasts going.
- I like the articles provided by Directions Magazine. Often when I need to come up to speed on a technology or topic quickly Directions Magazine has the answer.
- I think the ezine is quite good - format is fine, it is fast to review, and very quick to access links. I like the job you are doing and we have gotten many leads via the press releases, articles, and mentions.
- Great news site. I visit it everyday for info on customers/partners, prospects, competitors and general industry info.
- Directions is the only way for me to keep up on current events in geo-technology; even though I may not attend conferences and meetings.
- I really enjoy your off the beaten track stories. I often forward these links to others in my organization to highlight some of the interesting activities being supported with GIS technologies to help spark ideas from their own environments on how we can expand our own use of these tools in our environment.
- In my Marketing position, I'm interested in seeing who our competitors are and what new/interesting things they're doing. From a purely personal perspective, I thoroughly enjoy reading about the new and interesting ways maps/GIS is being used in everyday applications.
- I think you strike a good balance in covering the field though multiple angles/viewpoints/genres. I get a couple of e-mail newsletters throughout the week and yours is the only one I make sure to go through...even when my mailbox is overflowing with "unread" messages.
- I think you are right on in terms of covering the wide spectrum of geo-technology. I don't think you can focus in on too much because you'd lose your audience. I appreciate reading trend indicators and the new directions the business is heading. Thanks.
- While not all topics are relevant to my daily duties, I enjoy getting the newsletter and have come across some very interesting and informative articles through it. Keep up the good work!
- I struggle to keep up with my reading of the newsletters and often find myself skimming and filing in order to clear my inbox. That said, I always find the topics to be highly relevant, albeit with a U.S. focus. The podcasts are a great initiative and make for great listening in the drive to the office. Even the sponsored podcasts are informative, even if the product has not direct appeal (sorry, sponsors). Thanks for the great content and all the best for 2009!
- I generally think you guys do a great job. Directions is one of the few regular email newsletters that I have not unsubscribed from. Keep up the good work.
