OASIS Common Alerting Protocol Standard, CAP

This issue of the Java Location Services e-Newsletter is devoted to The Common Alerting Protocol Standard, abbreviated as CAP, which represents the work of more than two years bringing forward a recommended standard for a message format that can present essential information about emergency situations in a way that can be understood across the spectrum of channels or mechanisms for communication to first responders, public health and safety workers and managers, and the public at large. CAP contains Geospatial Information Systems information based on WGS84 as the current, most appropriate, global standard capable of conversion into most if not all currently used GIS.
